Thanksgiving has a variety of meanings for different people. Images of turkey, pumpkin pie and green bean casserole are common. For me it’s Mom’s cranberry fluff and a warm kitchen. There are also different takes on what happened on that first Thanksgiving Day. However, most of us agree that a group of friends, along with family members, sat down to a meal to express thanks for their blessings.
As I look around, there are many things here in the Moreno Valley to be thankful for. Even though the economy has been tough, we have new businesses that have opened their doors or plan to shortly and we have new members that have joined the Chamber family. Sales were good for the summer season and rumor has it, some of our property management companies are seeing record bookings for this time of year. The Village projects (North Angel Fire Road re-paving and the PID) brought improvement to our infrastructure.
Additionally, Colfax County’s unemployment rate is holding at 8.3%, still falling under the US average of 9.2%. With our winter season about to begin, our businesses are preparing to increase their staff, which will open up even more jobs for the area.
As long as the snow continues to bless the Resort, the visitors will continue to bless our businesses. And it’s our businesses that we are most thankful for. It’s thanks to you that the Chamber exists and continues to be able to provide needed benefits and support to the business community.
Another thing to be thankful for are all of our local non-profit organizations who work tirelessly to bring funds, events, activities and opportunities to the community. The attitude of cooperation and encouragement they bring is an encouragement to us all!
Cathy and I are both thankful to those of you who drop by to share a smile, an encouraging word or two, and sometimes even goodies! We look forward to seeing you and sharing in the news of what is happening in your lives.
The Board of Directors and Chamber staff are thankful to announce that membership packages have been revised and now offer new, more valuable benefits than ever before. Members will soon be receiving a packet in the mail detailing all of the fantastic changes. Please give us your feed back and let us know what you think.
What are you thankful for? Drop us a line and let us know and we’ll share your gratitude with our readers.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING FROM YOUR CHAMBER!
