This week our featured I Know Jo business is Hatcha’s Grill.
Yum is the most prominent thought that comes to my mind with our featured business this week, maybe double Yum! Owners Dominic Serne and Geno Martinez acquainted me with the reason why they are so well known. Their family run restaurant is a labor of love stretching back for four generations. They still believe in their Grandma’s adage, “a love for cooking is in our blood… esta’en el mano…”(it’s all in the hands). And they’ve added, “…it is the hand that is connected to the heart, which loves to cook”.
I had the pleasure of tasting two of their signature family recipes; Grilled Avocado and Calabacita Nacho’s. Mmm, Mmm, Mmm! What a delicious treat.
Eugenio, “Hatcha” Martinez, Geno’s father and Dominic’s grandfather, had a vision to offer a place where everyone could come in and feel like family, as if they were going to a friend’s home for a meal. He ran Hatcha’s in Mora on this concept. Having spent many, many years in Mora, Hatcha wanted to branch out. Dominic and Geno knew there wasn’t another specialty Mexican food restaurant in Angel Fire, so here they are.
Cooking at Hatcha’s Grill begins at 7:00 a.m. They open at 10:00 am, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The chiles are made fresh every morning, as well as all of the food at Hatcha’s Grill. While I was there I spoke with a few folks eating on the patio from various locations in Texas. They wanted me to say that they always made it a point to eat at Hatcha’s Grill while they are in New Mexico. They love the food served up from this kitchen.
Hatcha’s Grill offers a complete line of original Mexican food recipes as well as many American dishes. A few more of the favorites served are blue corn enchiladas, chopped steak dinner, and the rib-eye sandwich. Stop on over, the food’s fresh and tasty!
