This week our featured I Know Jo business is Angel Fire Visitor Center.
This week I was invited over to “visit” at the Angel Fire Visitors Center. I was warmly greeted by Tourism Manager Jimmy Linton, who has been in Angel Fire for over 30 years. He is a wealth of knowledge answering questions for guests and giving ideas as to the things that can be done in and around Angel Fire. He says, “If I don’t know something, I can pick up the phone and find someone in town who does know and get you the answer before you leave!”
The team at the Visitors Center along with Jimmy consist of Karen Kelly, Tracy Orr, and Joyce McCabe. Karen shared with me that over 17,000 visitors were welcomed into the Angel Fire Visitors Center last year. They have created an atmosphere of friendly helpful assistance for each and every guest who enters. Their main goal is to assist visitors in making their stay in Angel Fire all that it can be. While I was there many visitors browsed through the brochures and magazines, used the computers available, and leisurely sat outside soaking up the clean fresh mountain air.
Tracy Orr, the Visitors Center Sales and Event Manager who also brings years of experience as a local to her position, was excited to share about the event they are working on this week. It’s the 6th Annual Summerfest and Balloon Rally happening this week-end here in Angel Fire. Friday morning, weather permitting there will be sponsored tether rides in hot air balloons stationed at various businesses all over the village. The rides are free, but you have to be there between 6:30 and 7:30 am to participate!
Then on Friday evening Summerfest is hosting the Village of Angel Fire’s 25th Anniversary Celebration at 6:00 p.m. with a free bar-b-que dinner and cake. It will be held at the Village Haus at Angel Fire Resort. Following dinner the Jimmy Stadler Band will play on the main bandstand in the platinum parking area. Children are welcome as a Ton of Fun area will be open for the kids to play for free until dark.
Then Saturday and Sunday there will be food, fun, arts and crafts, music and approximately 15 Hot Air Balloons. They hope to see everyone there to enjoy festivities!
The Visitor Center is located in the Frontier Square building at the corner of Mountain View Blvd. and Angel Fire Drive. They are open 7 days a week from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
