This week I had my very first Spinning Class at Annie Lindsey’s Studio 434. I arrived at 8:00 am, sans make-up with loose fitting work out clothes and the anxiety of an out of shape 57-year-old. I have long wanted to try the indoor cycling classes, but I figured that at my age, I wouldn’t be able to keep up with the class. I was pleasantly surprised! Lisa Sutton taught my class and she immediately put me at ease by encouraging me to work at my own pace. Not only did we work out on the spin bikes, but she mixed in circuit training exercises off and on the bikes. It was a very fun active workout. All spin classes at Studio 434 are taught by certified Indoor Cycling Instructors trained to help you get the best possible workout for your fitness level. The classes meet in the Cove Bldg. at Frog Jelly Dance Center. (I have listed the days and times below this article.) Deanna, the lady on the bike next to me made the comment that she had resisted spin classes in the past because she thought it might be a boring. She wanted me to know how wrong that summation had been. She said that since she has been spinning, her back pain has gone away, her posture is better, and her overall fitness has been strengthened. She now attends on a daily basis. I decided that Spin Class is like eating potato chips, you can’t have just one! To attend spinning classes the cost is $40.00 per month for unlimited classes or $5.00 per class. I will be attending again and hopefully I’ll see you there!
Next I was treated to a fabulously relaxing one-hour massage by Studio 434’s licensed Massage and Polarity Therapist, Jessie Serrano. All of the soreness I felt after my spin class diminished as Jessie found the pressure points in need of attention. She explained to me that Polarity is a way of moving energy through the body to release pain, helping your body to become more centered. It worked! Her studio is located in Studio 434’s main building at 11 Halo Pines on the corner of Hwy 434 and Halo Pines. To make an appointment for your massage, call 505-204-8465. She charges $55.00 an hour.
And if that wasn’t enough, next Annie gave me a shampoo, style, and trim as we talked about her business. She provides full salon services; Haircut, color, shampoo and style, and perms. Do you just need your bangs trimmed? The cost is only $5.00 and it takes only five minutes. She also provides manicures, acrylic nails, nail fills and repairs, as well as pedicures, and facial waxing. Plus she has a tanning bed, 20 sessions for $60.00 with no expiration date. For your appointment with Annie call 575-377-6440. With the exception of pre-set appointments for special events such as weddings, Annie is available only on Tuesday and Thursday. So call early!
Annie moved to Angel Fire with her family when she was 12 years old. Now married and raising three children, she is a Moreno Valley staple. She has owned and operated Studio 434 for the past 13 years. She incorporated Spinning Classes about two years ago when she purchased the business from Consuelo Howe. Then last year Jessie came on board to add the dimension of massage to the already thriving business. Annie admits to being a beauty and fitness junky. Last year she won our 1st Annual Crash the Course 5k at the Angel Fire Resort Country Club.
I hadn’t realized that Studio 434 is like a mini spa in itself until I received the complete pampering experience today! I highly recommend that you try it for yourself!
