Parade of Homes
Eric Hoffman President of the Sangre de Cristo Homebuilders Association
The Labor Day weekend has officially begun. In Angel Fire that means its time for the Parade of Homes, sponsored by the Sangre de Cristo Homebuilders Association. For the past five years this annual event has provided an excited buzz in the Moreno Valley, and during my recent visit with Association President Eric Hoffman, he assured me that this year’s Parade of Homes will not disappoint!
The purpose of the Parade of Homes is to showcase the talents and workmanship of various home builders who are members of the Sangre de Cristo Homebuilders Association. There are ten featured homes on this year’s tour, representing seven of the Association’s home builders. Eric really bragged about the quality and professionalism of these builders. He said all of the builders involved with the Parade of Homes strive not only to meet codes, but to ensure their products are built with the highest quality and a sense of excellence. Eric told me there has never been a better time to invest in our beautiful year-round Moreno Valley setting. The tour is set up so that everyone can see for themselves the different styles and designs and abilities of the various builders.
“Now’s the time to start creating your mountain dream home. New construction costs in Angel Fire are much lower than comparable homes in other Rocky Mountain states, and the property taxes are one quarter that of neighboring Texas,” Eric said in the Parade of Homes Magazine (which includes a map and tour guide). “In the past few years, Angel Fire Resort has remodeled its hotel, built a new country club, revamped the Village entryway, and added a zipline and numerous other improvements.” In our conversation he also made reference to the fiber optics currently being installed in the Valley, the dedicated real estate agents and all of the other businesses, individuals, and activities contributing to the area’s growth. He wants everyone to know that we have what no one else in the entire country has! Who wouldn’t want to live here?
The Parade of Homes is actually a contest judged by the Santa Fe Homebuilders Association, and each builder featured in the event paid a fee to enter. Winners in several categories, as well as an overall Grand Hacienda Award, will be determined by the judges.
The seven home builders showcased in this year’s Parade of Homes are:
- Aspen Mountain Woodworks (Jason Grisham), Avant-Guard Homes & Construction (Gabriele Heinz)
- Dale Jackson Custom Building (Dale Jackson)
- John R. Sutton General Building Contractor, Inc. (John Sutton)
- Lindsey Custom Builders (B.J. Lindsey)
- Mountain Construction of Angel Fire (Eric Hoffman)
- Sticks and Stones Custom Builders (Bob Kowalski)
The Parade of Homes is Saturday and Sunday, September 1 and 2, 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. Please stop by the Visitor’s Center or the Angel Fire Chamber of Commerce to pick up a Parade of Homes Magazine, which includes a map with directions to each home as well as details about each home and builder. Fill up your gas tank and grab a guide, then be ready to be dazzled and awed as you tour these homes!
