Moreno Valley High School National Gold Ranking Honor
The Moreno Valley High School of Angel Fire New Mexico has been recognized by the U.S. News and World Report as one of the Best High Schools in the Nation. They are the recipient of a Gold Medal Ranking. Data was collected by US News in evaluating over 21,000 schools from 49 states and the District of Columbia. Overall student performance, on state-mandated assessments, was the criteria used in the evaluations. Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate exams were then used to determine the degree to which schools prepare students for college-level work. The schools were ranked within their home states and nationally. Of these national rankings only 500 schools out of the 21,000 schools evaluated, received the Gold Medal Ranking. Moreno Valley High School of Angel Fire is ranked 397th in the entire nation. What an awesome honor! In an article written for the US News, Kelsey Sheely says, ” the importance of a strong high school education cannot be overstated. Good schools challenge students academically, while giving them ample opportunity to explore their interests. This combination can set teens up to succeed long after graduation. By contrast, subpar schools can leave students struggling to make the transition from high school to college or the workforce.” Being ranked in the top 500 of the entire nation proves Moreno Valley High School meets this test!
In celebration of this outstanding accomplishment, last Friday, November 15, 2013, the Moreno Valley Education Foundation hosted a luncheon for the students and staff at the high school. Luncheon attendees included School Board members and a representative from Congressman Ben Lujan’s office. The Foundation would like to thank Lowe’s Valley Market for their generous donation to the luncheon and everyone who loaned an electric roaster, gravy boat or their time and energy to make this event a huge success! A special thank-you goes out to Kathy Serna who took on the task of making gallons of gravy to accent the turkey that was served. The Foundation also wants to thank all of the students and staff who helped cook, clean and decorate.
Congratulations to Moreno Valley High School on your superior academic accomplishment.
