The Music from Angel Fire Board of Directors announces that General Director Nancy Ondov will step down from her position at the end of November and is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Elizabeth Harcombe as Executive Director.
Nancy has been with the Festival for the past twelve years, seven of which she served as the General Director. Board President Gloria Fishman notes, “Under Nancy’s expert leadership the Festival has continued to flourish. Nancy has ably managed all facets of her job so that the end result, a wonderful music season, always looks effortless. We are saddened by her departure to pursue other interests, but so very grateful to her for her dedication to the Festival’s success. The Board of Directors is looking forward to working with Elizabeth. Her commitment to Music from Angel Fire as well as her enthusiasm and expertise ensures an exciting future for the Festival.” Ms. Ondov remarked, “One of the things I appreciate most about my time with the Festival (besides the incredible music of course!) has been the opportunity to get to know people from so many different walks of life – Board members, musicians, staff, patrons, concert goers, colleagues and associates. As I move on to follow other dreams and start the next chapter of my life, I take with me so many memories, wonderful friendships and great gratitude for the enrichment the Festival has brought to my life, both personally and professionally.”
Ms. Harcombe comes to the Festival from Chamber Music Northwest in Portland, Oregon, where she served as Program and Operations Director since 2007 and most recently as Interim Executive Director. She has also been a member of Music from Angel Fire’s seasonal staff for the past five years, where the Angel Fire audience knows her as “Lizzie.” Trained as a pianist, Elizabeth holds a bachelor’s degree in music and a master’s degree in music education. Ms. Harcombe remarked, “Music from Angel Fire has become a favorite summer tradition and I am thrilled to accept this opportunity to serve as Executive Director. With the 30th Anniversary still fresh in our minds, we have the important and exciting task of embracing our legacy, looking ahead to the next decade and building on the vision and leadership of the past. This remarkable organization continually inspires me, as the close-knit family of musicians, staff and supporters come together each year to produce this unique cultural experience. In my former position at Chamber Music Northwest, I collaborated with many of the artists who return year after year to Angel Fire, and I am pleased to continue this association with some of the country’s finest musicians. I look forward to leading this organization, along with Artistic Director Ida Kavafian and the Board of Directors.”
To ensure a smooth transition, Nancy Ondov and Elizabeth Harcombe will work together at the Festival’s Santa Fe office during the month of November and Elizabeth will assume the position effective December 1st. Music from Angel Fire will celebrate its 31st Season August 15 – 31, 2014, bringing the highest level of chamber music and education to the Northern New Mexico communities of Angel Fire, Taos, Raton and Las Vegas. The Festival’s outreach programs include a unique collaboration with area schools and the Festival’s Young Artist Program with the Curtis Institute of Music, Philadelphia.
