Last week I spent the morning with Parris Hood, Choice Wireless Area Sales Manager for New Mexico and Colorado. We drove down to Mora, doubled back up to Black Lake and over toward Hidden Lake testing the cell phone coverage our entire trip. I had my phone, which is on another service provider and she had her phone which is Choice Wireless service side by side. I wanted to personally test the signals for myself to see who got the better coverage. I have to tell you, I lost. Her coverage was always a few points better than mine. Not always a lot better, but I concede, it was better. There were a few places in the canyons where we both lost coverage, but hers came back quicker. Parris was even able to send a text when we parked the car on 120, at the entrance of B38.
On Wednesday April 22, Choice Wireless is sponsoring our Chamber Member Breakfast meeting. They are bringing with them 10 MiFi Hot Spots and 10 Smart Phones for our chamber members to check out and test free of charge! With the recent problems many people have experienced in the Moreno Valley when it comes to coverage, Choice Wireless, would like to give us the opportunity to “test for ourselves”. I haven’t had the opportunity to test the data use, but I can attest for the cell coverage.
The nice thing I learned about Choice Wireless is they do not make you sign a long term contract. You can get unlimited talk, text, and data plans beginning at $40.00 a month, with no contracts. They offer high speed internet plans that start at $30.00 a month. And guess what… no contract or credit checks. Seems like a win-win situation to me!
Choice Wireless launched in New Mexico November 2010. Parris started working with Choice Wireless in May 2011 and since she lived in the Espanola area at that time and Choice only had 1x in Espanola she pushed for the company to provide 3G service in the Espanola area. Within a few months Espanola was live with 3G. Parris realized quickly that Choice Wireless was truly committed to their customers and service and she liked what she saw. Parris relocated to Eagle Nest last September to test the network and see what Choice customers are experiencing here in the Moreno Valley area. One of the things Parris enjoys the most about her job is roaming around her area and checking the coverage. If she finds a problem, she opens up a trouble ticket immediately so the network team can correct the issue. Choice Wireless is always expanding their network coverage and bringing coverage to those areas that have never had coverage.
