Phil Brooks, Owner & Jo
I took a trip to Denver on Friday and did so with great confidence in my car. Know why? Because Phil Brooks at Affordable Auto of Angel Fire made sure my car was safe for travel before I left. What was to be a routine oil change for this story, turned into a brake repair. I am totally impressed! Once Phil had my car on the rack he began checking it. My brake pads were shot. I saw for myself and it wasn’t a pretty sight. Lucky for me we decided to do his story when we did. He probably saved me from what could have been an ugly situation.
Phil has been a mechanic for thirty-five years. He is a re-certified Master ASE Technician. He holds an American Honda Gold Level and earned 2nd Place as a Top Tech Participant. (That places him in the top ten in the nation.) He trained extensively with General Motors.
He and his family have owned property in Angel Fire since 1980. Two years ago they decided to to live here full time. He immediately jumped into community service. He is a participating member of the Rotary Club of Angel Fire, serves as Vice-President for the Eagle Nest PTA, he is a ski instructor at the Angel Fire Resort Children’s Ski & Snowboard School, he is involved with the Cub Scouts and is an active member of the Lutheran Church. He says that he loves giving back to a community that gives to each other.
After he established himself, he was ready to open the business. Affordable Auto of Angel Fire opened on January 1, 2015. He purchased a property and has spent the past few months cleaning it up. He wants to have an automotive repair shop that is clean and comfortable. He even provides a customer lounge area inside with a window into the shop. This is where you can safely watch as he works on your car. He is big on customer service. His goal is same or next day service. Phil told me, “Give people a good service for a good price and you’ll never go hungry.” then he smiled and added, “Referrals are key, the best advertisement for a good mechanic is word of mouth. You do a good job for people and they will bring you more business.” I agree, he won me over by going the extra mile. I told him that was how I felt and he said, “A little bit of above and beyond never hurts anyone.” No wonder he is getting such positive posts on his Face Book page!
He is in the process of getting his shop Triple A certified and to become a NAPA car care center. Plus he has set into motion an RV repair shop built onto the back of his property.
This Thursday night, April 30, Phil is hosting a Chamber Business after Hours. He invites you to come and see his new place as you visit and enjoy from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm at 23 Agua Road. Need your car repaired? Call Affordable Auto of Angel Fire at 575-224-7455, a man you can trust!
