Tuesday morning, May 10, 2016, at the Angel Fire Chamber of Commerce quarterly membership breakfast meeting, the 2016 Board of Directors took their oath of office. The Chairman of the Board gavel was passed from Wendee Woolley owner of Wende Woolley Photography to Michael Dean, Ranger for Girl Scouts of New Mexico Trails. Michael says he is ready to step up to the plate and knows he has big shoes to fill!
John Hail co-owner of Hail’s Holy Smoked Bar-B-Que & More, was voted Vice-Chairman. This position is incoming Chairman of the Board for the year 2017. Brenda Johnson owner of Brenda Johnson Property Management and Real Estate was elected to serve as Secretary and Nita Jones of FNB New Mexico was elected to serve as Treasurer. Rogers Lanon of ReMax Mountain Realty and Dr. Jennifer Fitch owner of Angel Fire Chiropractic also serve as Directors on the Board.
Vacating board positions are Donna Klassen, who has earned a promotion with FNB New Mexico and will be moving to Raton in July, Jim Anderson, who resigned his position at the RV Resort to take his choice of positions on the west coast, and Michael Turri with the Angel Fire Visitors Center. We will miss the leadership rolls these people have faithfully served for many years. They have been assets to the Chamber and to the village of Angel Fire! (Michael promises he will still be very active with the chamber!)
Heartfelt appreciation goes out to each of these men and women who volunteer their time to serve on the Angel Fire Chamber Board of Directors. The biggest lie ever told is “You won’t have to do anything when you get on the board!” Serving on the Board of Directors is a rewarding and important responsibility. Their job is to advance our non-profit organization’s mission and purpose, write policy and procedure, be visionaries for the future and to promote the chamber’s image. Plus the board has the responsibility for the fiduciary soundness of the chamber. Giving countless hours of dedicated leadership without complaint, these guys are AWESOME!
