After a long transition from winter to spring with up and down temperatures, temperatures are in the 50’s and 60’s. We are looking forward to welcoming the Run For The Wall riders to the Memorial on Friday evening May 19 about 4:00 PM. They will overnight in the area and be welcomed at dinner in Eagle Nest starting at 6:00 PM that evening.
Events for Memorial Day weekend start Sunday May 28th with the annual Foundation Board meeting held in the Memorial conference room starting at 4:00 PM (public invited) with the Candlelight Vigil in the amphitheater at 6:00 PM.
Monday May 29th the Flag March starts at the intersection of US Hwy 64 and NM Hwy 434 at 9:00 AM and proceeds to the Memorial. The public is invited to participate.
The Memorial Day ceremony will began at 11:00 AM in the amphitheater. The keynote speaker is Ken Cordier, Col, USAF, Ret. Col Cordier was a POW in Hanoi for over six years.
Management of the Memorial will be transferred from New Mexico State Parks to New Mexico Department of Veterans Services effective July 1, 2017. A transfer ceremony will be held at 11:00 AM on July 3rd at the Memorial amphitheater. The public is invited. We welcome Debra Herbst the new Park Manager. She can be reached at 575-377-2293.

The annual bricklaying will be held September 2 this year. We have laid over 2,700 memorial red bricks and 56 Medal of Honor recipient bricks and look forward to another 350 or so this year. Please get your order in soon so we can get them engraved.
