Los Piños, Lagunitas, Trout Lakes, and Canjilon Lakes are still being impacted by snow. These opening dates will be communicated as soon as we know that the sites are accessible. Fawn Lakes and Fawn Lakes Campground are currently closed due to high river runoff.
Several of these Campgrounds may be reserved at www.recreation.gov or by calling 1-877-444-6777.
There are currently no fire restrictions on the forest but it is critical that all campfires be properly extinguished. Do not take unnecessary risks by lighting campfires on hot and windy days. The west side of the Valle Vidal Unit in Taos County is closed through June 30 for elk calving but Forest Road 1950 is open to the public all the way through the Valle Vidal. In the closed area you are not allowed to leave your vehicle.
