Church (United Church of Angel Fire), you helped a good thing happen today, March 13, 2020! As most of you know, the coronavirus caused New Mexico schools to close for three weeks beginning today. While 21 kids participate in our Food4Kids program, there are 104 kids who qualify for free lunch so we knew that this time away from school was going to be a challenge for many of the kids with food insecurities.
Because of your support for Food4Kids, we were able to send a kid-sized bag of food home with each kiddo today! Along with their food was a note advising them how to reach the coordinators for this program for additional assistance. This was a big hit to our budget, but we felt it was important to insure against hungry children.
Thank you for your continued support! Thank you to Susan Stokes and Gina Bonner for being “boot on the ground” at the Eagle Nest school. We were also able to help supply the kids at the high school as well.
If you would like to help support the Food 4 Kids program which provides weekend snack bags to students in need, please consider a monetary donation by giving in one of these ways:
- Mail a check to ALM Food Pantry, PO Box 1190, Angel Fire, NM 87710 (please write Food 4 Kids in memo) This method also ensures that you receive a receipt for your taxes (ALM is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization)
- Stop by FNB (formerly First National Bank) in Angel Fire and deposit directly into our Food 4 Kids account
- Use the Donate button on this post to donate online
You can also donate kid-friendly foods. DONATION BARRELS will be at the FNB and the Post Office.
Drop off shelf stable, individually packaged items. We like things that are more nutritious like granola bars, breakfast bars, higher protein snacks including nuts, beef sticks, fruit cups, microwave mac & cheese, etc.
