We need your help! This year’s Independence Day celebration event is proving to be a tremendous undertaking considering all the obstacles of the State of New Mexico’s Covid-19 response actions.
Currently, we have ordered the fireworks and have donation commitments of $10,000 from local businesses. This represents the same amount as we have spent the last two years. However, the State Fire Marshall has told us we must employ someone with a Federal Explosives License to oversee and set off the fireworks. This has not been imposed upon us until this year. Meanwhile, the company we work with is trying to locate a crew with a Federal Explosives License to set off our fireworks. They have two leads, one in Colorado and one in Nebraska. This will result in an additional cost of $2,000-$4,000 depending on which one they can secure.
If you know anyone in Northern New Mexico who has a Federal Explosives License that might be willing to assist, please have them reach out to us! Or if you can sponsor or donate to this cause!
Also, I know that municipalities, businesses and individuals are facing tremendous shortages at this time, but any financial help from anyone would be a tremendous relief! We want our fireworks display to take place under the safe practices the State of New Mexico Governor has put into place. We do not want to have to cancel this celebration and we are planning a huge finale to the event this year!
