Mayor Mixon has called a Town Hall Meeting for the people of Angel Fire to be able to voice their opinions and to examine the proposed zoning changes for cannabis dispensaries in Angel Fire.
When: September 13, 2021 at 5:30 pm
Where: Angel Fire Village Hall
The New Mexico legislature passed a bill legalizing recreational cannabis during a special session earlier this year. Although it does not go into effect until April 1, 2022, municipalities of New Mexico are to update and change their zoning ordinances.
The proposed plan was brought to the Village Council with recommendation by the Village Planning and Zoning Commission on August 24, 2021. As with any new ordinance, there must be two public hearings prior to a council vote. The first public hearing was not well attended by the public. The second public hearing will be at the council meeting on Tuesday Sept. 14, after which the Angel Fire Council will vote on the ordinance.
Due to many calls and visits from citizens of Angel Fire on this issue, the Mayor decided to call a Town Hall meeting.
Members of the Council will be in attendance as well as members of the Planning and Zoning Commission to explain the proposed zoning, listen to any proposed changes and to answer questions.
If this an issue that is of interest to you as a resident, please make plans to attend. Thank you.
