On February 17, 2022 Governor Lujan-Grisham held a press conference and as she removed her own mask announced New Mexico’s mask mandate was suspended.
The only exceptions will be hospitals, long-term care facilities and detention facilities. The decision on masking in schools will be left up to governing school bodies, which may elect to keep or suspend masking requirements. The majority of NM schools have already unmasked as of this eBlast.
However, New Mexico, since March 11, 2020, remains under an emergency Public Health Order. (going on 24 months) The newest version, effective as of Thursday, February 17, can be found here.
