RED FLAG NO BURNING CONTINUES!
NO OUTDOOR BURNING until conditions improve.
The Village of Angel Fire is communicating closely with our Fire Chief regarding the smoke in our valley and the nearby wildfires. The Angel Fire Fire Dept. posts updates regularly on their Facebook page. On April 11, Chief Henson issued a RED FLAG NO OUTDOOR OPEN FLAME BURNING OF ANY KIND declaration that is set to expire or be renewed on April 20, 2022. Currently there is NO outdoor open flame burning of any kind allowed. The Fire Chief is considering a formal BURN BAN, but that has not occurred yet.
The heavy smoke in the Moreno Valley this morning is caused by a thermal inversion from the fire in the Ocate Area (Cooks Fire). The cause of this fire is unknown, and full suppression activities were initiated this morning. We are closely monitoring fire behavior in our area, and that will be a factor in determining when we might be able to allow controlled open burning.
Thank you.
