It’s Play Time!
The snow this week has been a wonderful blessing and the weather reports say more is on the way! The outdoors beckon me, come play! Just minutes from the slopes, now in its second year of operations, the Angel Fire Nordic Center is one of the happening places to be for family fun on the snow. Located on the golf course at the Angel Fire Country Club, the Nordic Center provides many groomed cross country ski trails & snowshoe loops that meander through out the grounds. My favorite part of skiing cross-country at the Angel Fire Nordic Center is gliding across the snow while experiencing the breath taking views of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. And its not unusual to encounter an elk sighting or two! The Nordic Center is a perfect addition to the Angel Fire Resort’s already fun filled schedule for this winter season. Last year I learned to cross country ski, this year it will be snowshoe. I’m told if you can walk, you can snowshoe. I just might be able to conquer it! And don’t forget the sledding hill! Fun for all ages!
A season pass for the Ski and Snowshoe trails is $65.00. A daily pass for cross-country ski is $10.00 and for snowshoe it is $6.00. Children under 13 are free and plus all Resort members may use the Nordic trails free with a valid membership card. There is a small fee for the sledding hill. The Nordic Center is open 9:00 am to 4:00 and the sledding hill is open 10:00 am to 4:00 pm daily throughout the Holidays.
Sleds are available in the winter sports shop as well as Nordic skis, boots and snowshoes rentals. And you can take lessons, which I recommend! I for one am happy that I did! After having fun in this family winter playground, warm up inside the Nordic Center Cafe with a hot beverage, soup, or baked good while giggling and discussing the fun you are having here in Angel Fire! You may also want to utilize the Country Club facilities which are open to the public. These include a swimming pool, fitness center, locker rooms, showers, retail store, and in the evening fine dining at Elements.
I can’t think of a better way to spend the day with family and friends! You and I and our guests have so many reasons to get outside and play.
The Resort is offering complimentary shuttle service this year between the Lodge and the Nordic Center. It will depart from the Lodge at 9:45 am, 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm. The final shuttle of the day will leave the Nordic Center to take you back to the Lodge at 4:00 pm.
