Nancy and Bill Burch Welcome You!
Breakfast enchiladas cooked to perfection was my treat this week at the new Camp Fire Cafe. I ordered mine Christmas. The red sauce was smooth and the green chili had just the right kick! The tortillas and sapopillas were freshly homemade!
Nancy and Bill Burch have once again transformed the main floor of the Elk Horn Lodge into a family friendly restaurant, serving three square meals a day. Open seven days a week, 7:00 am to 8:00 pm, Camp Fire Cafe serves good ole’ home cooked meals with specialties from Chef Pat Conway. Although he’s been in the food service business since 1984 in Northern New Mexico, Pat is best known as owner and operator of Stray Cats Restaurant in Taos. While there he was awarded “Judge’s Choice in Taos” for his green chili. I asked him what brought him to the Camp Fire Cafe. He told me that Bill Burch had been a loyal regular customer at Stray Cats. When the business closed, Bill searched for him until he hired him. Great job Bill!
Nancy and Bill built the Elk Horn Lodge with full hotel and restaurant services in 1997. They ran it together for more than seven years. At that time Nancy decided to focus more on her business, Roadrunner Tours, so they leased the Elk Horn Lodge out to another party. Over the years it has changed managements several times and the restaurant became a lobby. Now in 2013, Bill and Nancy have once again joined forces, deciding it was time to re-open the restaurant for the benefit of their lodge guests and the community. Nancy said she is looking forward to getting re-acquainted with people in the community as well as her guests. She is proud of the quality of food and the standard of service they provide. For instance, she notes, a Camp Fire Cafe burger isn’t just any old burger; it’s fresh ground Angus sirloin. For dinner, an 11-ounce Rib Eye Steak is one of your choices. Nancy gave me the full VIP treatment with a smile and she’ll do the same for you!
Get your taste buds ready and head on over to the Camp Fire Cafe located on the main floor of the Elk Horn Lodge, 3377 Mountain View Blvd (Hwy 434) in Angel Fire, New Mexico. Spend a day on the slopes or horseback riding then sit by the cozy three-story fireplace as you enjoy your dinner at the Cafe. And don’t forget to book a room at the Lodge and get a full breakfast, compliments of Nancy and Bill! Coming soon they’ll add a beer and wine license and a full buffet.
Exciting changes and updates are happening at the Elk Horn Lodge. Linda Bomer has been hired to manage the Lodge and Bill and Nancy are personally running the restaurant. If you are dependable and service oriented, they are hiring food prep personnel and cooks to work with Pat in the kitchen, full or part time. Apply in person at the Cafe.
