Summer is quickly coming to an end. Our young residents are once again spending their days in school, the elk bellow their mating calls, and although everything is still gorgeously green, autumn is in the air. The evenings are beginning to feel crisp and cool.
Updates: As we shared at the quarterly membership meeting on August 20, our plans for offering Chamber Group Insurance has come to a (hopefully temporary) dead end. We will still investigate further any possibilities that may arise.
We have set the date for “Habla Tamale.” This two day tamale festival that will take place in Angel Fire June 28-29, 2014. The festival will be all about tamales. Prizes will be awarded for tamale cooking competitions in both commercial and individual categories. There will be tamale eating contests, tamale teaching techniques, family tradition booths, kids zones, music, dancing, craft and food vendors and more! If you think your tamales are the best in Northern New Mexico or even the entire state, get ready to put your recipes to the test. You may earn “True” bragging rights! We will be putting committees together in early October to thoroughly plan this event. If you or anyone you know would like to volunteer please call the chamber at 575-377-6353. “Habla Tamale” will have a Facebook page and a website soon thereafter with information on entry fees and booth rental.
