EAGLE NEST ELEMENTARY/MIDDLE SCHOOL PARENT TEACHER ASSOCIATION
The Eagle Nest Elementary/Middle School (ENEMS) PTA (Parent Teacher Association) meeting I attended last week was all business. The special meeting was scheduled for planning and putting the finishing touches on their biggest fundraising event of the year, The Fall Festival. It will be held this Friday night, October 25, 2013 at the school, 225 Lake, Ave in Eagle Nest, New Mexico from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm. From what I heard at the meeting, you definitely want to make plans to attend. The items they have rounded up for the silent auction and bingo are enough to get my attendance! Plus there will be game booths, a cakewalk, dancing, a costume contest, and much much more. Oh and lots and lots of candy for the kids! The Fall Festival boasts the largest crowd of any event they have during the school year. Costumes are not required, but what’s a Fall Festival, if you have to go dressed as yourself?
This year the ENEMS PTA Board consists of: Annie Lindsey-President, Jessica McDonald-Vice President, Linda Weir-Treasurer, and Jessie Serrano-Secretary. They are surrounded by enthusiastic members, both parents and teachers, without whom they could not execute these successful events. The main function of the P.T.A. is to provide support for parents, staff, and of course the students of the school. They have fund raisers to help with financial support, they work hard to keep all of the parents informed and involved in their children’s education and school activities, and they do their best to make the staff at ENEMS know how much they are appreciated! The PTA also act as an advocate for parents and staff, by representing them and being a voice before the Cimarron Municipal School’s Superintendent and School Board.
Meetings are the first Thursday of every month at the Angel Fire Community Center starting at 6:00 pm. Everyone is welcome to join. There is a New Mexico PTA fee for membership, but that will be covered by the ENEMS PTA when you join. Each spring they send representatives to the New Mexico state convention to ensure their ideas are fresh and innovative. Every year they have bake sales and other fundraisers, but the bulk of what they do is putting the raised funds to good use for the benefits of the school and those involved!
So costume-up and save the date! Fall Festival, Friday October 25, 2013, 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm. A note from me… bring deep pockets to help fund the kids at the ENEMS; they are a great cause, cause they are our future! Boo!
The Eagle Nest PTA hard at work!
